Megan Clifford, M.Ed, LMHC
EMDR Therapist for Children, Teens & Adults
Megan | EMDR Therapist for Children, Teens & Adults
Megan is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and trained EMDR therapist with a unique background as a former school adjustment counselor. Her experience working within the school system gives her an understanding of the emotional, social, academic, and family pressures that can affect children and teens—and the challenges parents face when trying to figure out how to best support them.
Megan works with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, school-related stress, life transitions, low self-esteem, and other emotional
challenges. Her approach is warm, compassionate, and individualized, with an emphasis on creating a space where clients feel genuinely heard and understood.
As an EMDR therapist, Megan can help clients process traumatic or distressing experiences that continue to affect how they feel, think, or respond in the present. She incorporates EMDR alongside other therapeutic approaches based on each client's age, needs, personality, and goals.
Megan also has an extensive background in mindfulness and yoga, with over 300 hours of training and certifications to teach both children and adults. She draws on this experience to incorporate mindfulness, grounding, and mind-body strategies into her therapeutic approach, helping clients develop greater self-awareness, manage stress, and build practical skills for emotional regulation.
Megan has a particular understanding of children and teens struggling with school-related concerns. Having worked as a school adjustment counselor, she understands that what looks like a “school problem” can sometimes be connected to anxiety, peer relationships, family changes, trauma, emotional regulation, self-esteem, or simply feeling overwhelmed.
She also recognizes that supporting a struggling child often means supporting the family around them. Megan works collaboratively with parents while maintaining a therapeutic relationship in which children and teens can feel safe enough to be themselves.
For adult clients, Megan brings that same calm, nonjudgmental approach to therapy, helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, stress, and major life transitions.
At the center of Megan's work is connection. She believes clients make meaningful progress when they feel respected, understood, and comfortable enough to explore what's really going on—not just what's visible on the surface.
